Who am I?
Katrianna Skulsky is a multimedia journalist currently based in Canada. She was raised in Vancouver, B.C., on the unceded territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations, where the towering arbutus trees and windswept shores first sparked her insatiable curiosity and deep passion for uncovering the stories that shape people, place, and memory.
She holds a Master's in Journalism from The University of British Columbia, a Bachelor’s in English from the University of Victoria, and a Certificate in Motion Picture Arts from Capilano University.
Katrianna is a recipient of the 2025 CBC News Summer Scholarship in memory of Joan Donaldson and Peter Gzowski, and is a 2024-25 Global Reporting Program Fellow. She previously worked in Vancouver’s film industry, contributing to independent and major productions in roles ranging from grip to production designer to camera trainee.
With expertise in audio, digital, print, and video storytelling, her reporting examines the intersections of climate change, global affairs, and the resilience of human and environmental systems.
Her journalism appears in CBC Radio, Canadian Geographic, Canadian Running Magazine, The National Observer, The/La Source Newspaper, and The Ubyssey.
